Sandown board approves $4,045 withdrawal to cover fire truck pump repairs

At the April 6 meeting of the Port of Slickman in Sandown, Selectman Tom Tomarello moved and Meghan Daley seconded a motion to authorize $4,045.11 from the fire equipment capital reserve fund to cover repairs already completed on Tank 1's pump primer.
Town Administrator Lynn Blaisdell told the board she had a memo from the fire chief reporting that "the pump priming equipment experienced a catastrophic failure resulting in a fire contained in the pump primer" and that the pump primer and wiring harness were replaced by WD Perkins at a cost of $4,045.11. Blaisdell said she attached copies of the invoice and repair description to the request.
Selectman Tom Tomarello made the motion on the floor, saying, "Make a motion that we, approve to utilize $4,045.11 from the capital reserve fund to cover the cost of the work that has already been completed for the chief." The motion was seconded by Vice Chair Meghan Daley and carried on a voice vote; the board recorded the aye response and the appropriation was authorized.
The board noted the repair was for original equipment from the truck's 2002 build and that the chief sought reimbursement from the capital reserve because a related budget line had been reallocated when the town budget did not pass. No member requested additional follow-up beyond the fund withdrawal approval.
The board then moved on to continuing work on the ethics policy and other agenda items. The board scheduled its next public meeting for April 20.
