The redevelopment authority gave board backing to two community-focused items: a revived Water Fest event at Robinson Lake and a proposed rain garden to stabilize shoreline runoff and create a public demonstration site.
Marketing staff said partners (local land trusts and conservation groups) and several engineering firms have committed to participate; staff requested a modest not-to-exceed $1,000 budget for printed materials and event signage. The board voted to approve the $1,000 allocation for event deliverables.
Staff also presented a proposal to build a larger rain garden at the lake’s parking-lot corner to capture runoff and reduce shoreline erosion; staff and the parks director have reviewed siting and recommended a location that would intercept parking-lot runoff and enhance an eroded shoreline area. The board provided its endorsement for staff to proceed with development and community volunteer participation.
Staff said the event is planned for April (staff referenced April 25 with activities 11 a.m.–3 p.m.) and will include partner organizations, educational deliverables and vendor participation.
