Three Oaks staff report progress on water-main, Well #4 and asset-management work; MRWA rate study scheduled

Village staff and consultant Andrew Rudd told the committee Feb. 6 that work on the Hickory and Ash valve and main replacement is being scheduled to finish before a nearby bridge project; survey and design cost estimates will be provided and the project will be funded through the Water Fund and bid at a later date.
Regarding operations, staff reported most state-identified deficiencies at the Three Oaks water plant have been addressed, including lighting, locks and furnace work. Well #4 has not been online for several years but is exercised monthly, can be manually operated if necessary, and has a communications issue staff said is being addressed with reconnection anticipated in spring.
Two recent water-main breaks were repaired at an estimated combined cost of about $7,200; staff said no pressure spikes or water-quality concerns were identified. The village's Asset Management Plan is about 98% complete and undergoing final revisions after state feedback.
The Michigan Rural Water Association will perform an on-site rate study beginning Feb. 17, 2026 at approximately 11:00 a.m.; staff said results will be presented at a future meeting.
