Public Service Committee recommends cellular alarm upgrade for Three Oaks water plant

The Village of Three Oaks Public Service Committee voted on Feb. 6 to recommend that the Village Council approve replacement of the water-plant alarm system.
Staff presented a proposal to replace the existing phone-line alarm system because of recurring interference and AT&T’s planned discontinuation of copper-line maintenance. The proposal shows equipment costs of $4,756 and installation costs of $2,500 for a total estimated one-time cost of $7,236; annual monitoring was estimated at about $260.
The staff presentation noted the new system would convert the plant alarm to a cellular-based service compatible with the lagoon alarm system. Kramer moved and Lockhart seconded a motion to recommend the alarm upgrade to the Council; the motion carried unanimously.
The committee forwarded the recommendation to the Village Council for approval; staff will include the proposal and cost breakdown in the Council packet.
