Algood council swears in Roger Williams, accepts certified election results and appoints Hill as vice mayor

The Algood City Council swore in Roger Williams and called the meeting to order before moving through routine business, including acceptance of certified election results and the appointment of Councilman Hill as vice mayor. Mayor Bor presided.

The council opened with a swearing-in ceremony conducted by Judge Bray, during which Roger Williams received the oath and applause. After opening remarks and the invocation from Pastor Terry, Miss Walker conducted roll call and the council approved the meeting agenda and the minutes from the Aug. 13 meeting on unanimous roll-call votes.

Council then voted to suspend the reading of Resolution 365-2497 so it could be considered later in the meeting. Members next considered and approved a motion to accept the certified election results from the Putnam County Election Commission for the Aug. 1, 2024 election; the administrator told members the attachments provided by the commission were accurate and certified.

On a separate motion, the council voted to continue Councilman Hill in the role of vice mayor; members voted in favor by roll call. Recorded roll-call votes during these actions show Mayor Bor: yes; Councilman Bilbury: yes; Councilman Williams: yes; Councilwoman Hawkins: yes; Councilman Hill: yes.
