Three Oaks council approves small infrastructure projects, Unit 6 tenant cost-share and clerk family insurance

At its Feb. 11 meeting, the Three Oaks Village Council approved several small infrastructure and personnel items intended to address building functionality, utility reliability and downtown planning.
Council approved splitting the cost of interior demolition in Unit 6—two interior walls and part of a sink area—with the tenant, not to exceed $1,400 per party. The motion to approve cost sharing was moved by Jones, supported by Hinman, and carried.
Separately, the Council approved installation of an updated SCADA-based alarm system for the water treatment plant to replace an unreliable dialer, at a quoted cost of $7,236. The new system was described as aligning alarm communications with the Village’s lift-station monitoring setup; the motion carried.
Council also agreed to a downtown parking study requested by the DDA, not to exceed $8,500, with the DDA funding the work. The motion carried with Council Member Kramer recorded as the lone nay.
On personnel benefits, the Council voted to approve family health insurance coverage for Village Clerk Kimberly Johnson, noting that the clerk’s hours meet eligibility requirements for enrollment. Council Member Springer moved the motion, supported by Niemzyk, and it carried unanimously.
These items were presented as routine operational measures; the Council recorded motions and votes to proceed with the work and insurance enrollment and directed staff to implement the approved measures.
