Edison Elementary teachers Amy Cabe and Erin Krajewski presented the Bridge to Reading program at the board’s Feb. 10 meeting, describing it as a K–2 literacy initiative that builds foundational skills and uses FastBridge assessment data to help teachers monitor progress and intervene before students fall behind.
The presenters said lessons are designed to build on students’ existing knowledge and to ensure instruction is appropriately challenging. Dr. Julia Lindsay has conducted professional development sessions for staff to support implementation. The board received the presentation as an informational item; no board action was recorded on the program at this meeting.
