Michiana updates water project; Grand Beach to review proposed 50-year water contract

Council member Mike Mumper reported the water project is progressing, that the Village is pressing contractor Merritt to begin work, and that the Village intends to issue a single bid covering two projects. He also reported that a new, stronger pump has been installed.
Tim McCarthy told the council that Grand Beach will hold a council meeting the following Wednesday to review a proposed 50-year water contract. No final intermunicipal agreement was recorded at the Michiana meeting; the matter remains pending review by Grand Beach.
Public Works Superintendent Rick Reitz said proposals included two additional drywells and paving work; he confirmed that proposed paving related to the drywells is planned for the fall. The council did not vote on contracts at the May 9 meeting; members discussed scheduling and procurement steps.
