The Village of Michiana Council completed routine approvals and financial housekeeping at its Dec. 13 meeting.
The council approved the Nov. 8, 2024 meeting minutes (motion by Tim McCarthy). Treasurer Tracey McCay presented the treasurer’s report and reported the Pokagon Fund balance of $45,536; the report was approved by motion. The clerk presented a Check Register totaling $112,935.49 for council approval; Tim McCarthy moved to approve and the council passed the motion.
Council discussed upcoming CD rollovers and asked the treasurer to compare rates — two CDs coming due will be rolled over at Huntington (3.5%) and Everwise (4.9%); a councilor suggested checking Honor Credit Union for rates. The council amended the HR manual to add the words 'employee and spouse' to a Medicare-related provision and approved a Michiana House Walk scheduled for July 25, 2025 to raise funds for Hall renovation. The council also accepted four donated game tables for the Hall and set seasonal open hours.
