Michiana council rolls over CDs, moves $25,000 to vehicle reserve CD and approves check register

The Village of Michiana council on Aug. 9 approved several routine financial items and minutes, including rolling over two maturing certificates of deposit, moving $25,000 into a vehicle/reserve CD, and approving the check register for $76,517.49.
Treasurer Tracey McCay told trustees the Pokagon Fund balance remains $43,329 and asked to roll over two CDs coming due in September: the water CD at 1st Source for at least six months and the General CD at Chase Bank for at least nine months. Brian Cassidy moved to approve the rollovers as presented; Mike Botelho seconded the motion. A roll call vote was 3 ayes and 0 nays and the motion passed.
Tracey also proposed consolidating vehicle and equipment reserves into a $25,000 CD (composed of $10,000 budgeted to help purchase a police car every five years and $15,000 reserved for a tractor over the next six years). Brian Cassidy moved to move the $25,000 into a CD for vehicles; Mike Botelho seconded. The roll call vote was 3 ayes and 0 nays and the motion passed.
Clerk Anne Heywood asked the council to approve the check register in the amount of $76,517.49. Trustee Mike Botelho moved to approve the check register; Mike Mumper seconded and the motion passed. Earlier in the meeting the council also approved the July 12 council minutes, the Aug. 2 water minutes and the Aug. 5 Tree Board minutes (motions made by Mike Botelho and seconded by Mike Mumper). The council also approved a day camp's request to purchase a shed to store equipment behind Village Hall.
The meeting record shows unanimous votes on the recorded roll calls (where recorded) and general consensus on the routine approvals. No amendments or dissenting votes were recorded at the meeting.
