Council hears update on Creek water project; Water Authority meeting set for Aug. 2

Councilor Mike Mumper said Merritt Engineering is preparing final plans for a water project on Creek and expected to have them ready for the next water meeting. He said the new pump for the pump house has not yet been installed because the village is supplying water to Grand Beach’s golf course and staff did not want to jeopardize system pressure. Public Works Superintendent Rick Reitz reported ongoing lead, copper, and PFAS testing. Anne Heywood said a water contract was sent to Michigan City with minor changes and the village is awaiting a signed return. Mumper scheduled a Water Authority meeting for Aug. 2 at 1:30 p.m. EST.
The council did not vote on construction work at this meeting; the update clarified planning status and testing with further review to follow at the Water Authority meeting.
