The Village of Michiana authorized up to $5,000 to repair cracks on the pickleball court following a quote from a contractor.
Karen Harty presented a $4,300 quote from Seal Coating, which included a one-year guarantee. Councilor Brian Cassidy moved to approve repairs up to $5,000 with Tim McCarthy to review the estimate and Public Works Superintendent Rick Reitz to coordinate scheduling to avoid conflicts with the village day camp. Nancy Thill seconded the motion and it passed.
Council members noted that crack repairs would likely recur and that a full resurfacing would be required to stop ongoing cracking. The council said proceeds from pickleball tournaments go into a Pickleball Fund to pay for court work and that organizers should coordinate scheduling for the planned September tournament.
