RSU 26 board keeps six strategic goals, adds priority on technology inquiry and transitions

The RSU 26 Board of Directors resolved to continue the district's existing six strategic-plan goals while charging administration to place additional emphasis on goals one and three in the coming year. Board members requested a year-long, deliberate technology inquiry to inventory devices, surface best practices and tie device purchases to a budgeted long-term vision.
During an extended discussion, members said the technology inquiry should focus on student-facing educational technology (not back-office systems such as PowerSchool), begin with an inventory of devices and uses, and produce a recommended vision that could be considered during the budget cycle. Several members noted there is a national conversation about one-to-one laptop programs and emphasized the board's desire to be intentional before approving large device purchases.
Members also discussed uneven adoption of a growth-mindset approach across buildings and asked administration to explore practical measures to broaden effective practices. The board asked administration to return in the fall with options on transition work between schools (elementary to middle and middle to high), including any low-burden ideas staff might implement to improve continuity for students.
Chair summarized the outcome: continue the strategic plan with targeted emphasis on goals one and three, undertake the technology inquiry next year, and have administration develop options on transitions and report back.
