CEDA reports marketing push, issues RFP for multifamily site at 245 NE 5th Street

Ashley Craiglow, Community and Economic Development Associate, briefed the council on ongoing CEDA activities and economic development projects.
Craiglow said staff have a marketing plan in progress that will include drone footage showcasing the city, Industrial Park and Blackwater for the forthcoming website, and that new signs for the Industrial Park and Blackwater will be installed within a week. The first business spotlight featuring Nelson Wood Shim's ran the week of May 11; the next spotlight is scheduled for June 8 featuring The Top Shop. Promotional materials have been prepared for properties including Blackwater and Hagy, and staff have released a Request for Proposal (RFP) for a multifamily housing project at 245 NE 5th Street. Craiglow also said the city will submit an IRRR grant application for the Industrial Park and Dovetail Boulevard site and that the comprehensive plan survey has received 337 responses and will remain open at least through mid-June. Craiglow noted a community blood drive is planned for June 16.
Next steps: staff will continue outreach to developers for the RFP, proceed with the marketing rollout and submit the IRRR grant application. No council vote was recorded on these items at the May 26 meeting.
