Goodrich council passes sewer rate pass-through and several routine resolutions

The Village of Goodrich Council adopted multiple resolutions and handled routine business at its March 9 meeting.
Sewer rate pass-through: Council adopted Resolution 2026-002 to implement a sewer disposal and treatment rate increase issued by the county drain commissioner’s office and to pass that increase through to village sewer customers. Officials explained the county increased its rate (members cited the county figure rising informally from 150 to 180 during discussion) and the village’s adoption will make the increase effective for village customers as a pass-through. The resolution language was read into the record and the clerk certified the resolution; council members asked for later follow-up on comparative costs and said they would request more detail about county participation and alternatives in future materials.
Schedule of fees: Council adopted Resolution 2026-001 to update the schedule of fees for village boards and permits. The primary change discussed was an increase to escrow amounts (an additional $500 in some escrow categories) so planning and engineering review costs are covered; escrow funds are returned to applicants if not used.
911 consortium representative: Council approved Resolution 2026-003 naming David Lusk as the village representative to the county 911 consortium and naming the clerk as alternate.
CDBG spending for seniors: Council approved Resolution 2026-004 to authorize spending of 2025 CDBG funds ($1,666) plus a $34 village contribution for a total of $1,700 to purchase 170 foldable grabbers for senior citizens; council members praised the purchase and the resolution passed by roll call.
Temporary hire postponed: Council debated a request to allow Administrator Wilkerson to hire a temporary part-time office assistant at $15 per hour without benefits (summer/short-term). Members discussed job duties, hours and oversight and agreed to postpone the hiring motion until a personnel committee review and a job description/time-frame are prepared.
No formal appeals or litigation were raised during the resolutions discussion. The clerk certified the adopted resolutions and advised that the full text and associated documents are on file at the village office.
