The Paulding County Board of Tax Assessors met June 24, 2026, at the Watson Government Complex in Dallas, Georgia, and unanimously approved routine business including minutes, appeals and valuation adjustments.
Chief Appraiser James Stokes, Jr. presented general correspondence and a weekly summary of change-of-assessment notices and public inquiries for June 8–12, 2026. The minutes record the department’s tabulated call and notice totals; the published table in the minutes is included as presented but contains formatting ambiguities and an unclear overall total.
The board voted to approve the minutes of June 10, 2026. Chairman Johnny McBurrows moved to approve the minutes, and Member Lydia Rollins seconded; McBurrows, Vice-Chairman Ben Amerson, Members Gary Spinks, Lydia Rollins and Gary Griswell voted in favor.
The board acknowledged two taxpayer appeals being referred to arbitration: Samantha Morris (Account 92977) and Benjamin Ziegler (Account 94202). Chief Appraiser Stokes presented the appeals for the record; the minutes list them as acknowledged for arbitration but do not record further hearings or outcomes in this meeting.
The board approved a request for early termination of a conservation-use covenant for Account 66369 (Sheila Tidwell). The parcel was reported as 18.70 acres and the request was presented under O.C.G.A. § 45-5-7.4(q)(4). Member Lydia Rollins moved to approve the request; Vice-Chairman Ben Amerson seconded and the board voted unanimously to grant the early termination.
In a motor-vehicle appeal, the board considered owner Ojo Femi’s 2021 Toyota Corolla. Staff recommended a valuation; Member Lydia Rollins moved to accept staff’s recommended value and Member Gary Spinks seconded. The motion passed with all five members recorded as voting in favor.
Chief Appraiser Stokes also presented a series of digest change requests affecting real estate and personal property accounts for tax years 2024–2026. The minutes list multiple individual accounts and trusts approved for E&R (Error & Revision) and NOD (Notice of Determination) adjustments. Member Johnny McBurrows moved to approve staff recommendations on the listed digest change requests; Member Gary Griswell seconded and the board voted unanimously to adopt the changes.
Chairman McBurrows moved to adjourn the meeting; Vice-Chairman Amerson seconded and the meeting was adjourned with all five members recorded as voting yes. The minutes are signed in the record with the clerk/secretary name appearing inconsistently as 'Deanna Momon' and 'Deanna Morrison.'
The actions taken at the meeting affect account-level valuations, the county tax digest for multiple years and one conservation-use covenant; several items (the arbitration appeals and any downstream hearings) remain pending and were recorded for referral or future action.
