Bartlett recognizes principal of the year and honors undefeated middle school basketball team; superintendent reports on operations

Rivercrest Elementary Principal Sharonda Rose was recognized at the Bartlett City Board of Education meeting on Feb. 27 after being named Tennessee's 2024–2025 West Grand Division Principal of the Year by the Tennessee Department of Education. The board presented Ms. Rose with a plaque and certificate; the minutes record her crediting the Rivercrest staff, parents and students for the honor.

The board also honored Elmore Park Middle School's boys' basketball team for winning the TMSAA state championship on Feb. 15, 2025. The team finished the season 31-0 and the program's winning streak was recorded at 96 consecutive games; coaches and players were presented with a certificate.

In district business, Superintendent Dr. David A. Stephens said auditors from Forvis presented the audit report and noted Bartlett City Schools was named a Top WorkPlace, placing third in the large-division category and receiving a values award. Stephens thanked operations staff for their response during a recent winter storm, acknowledged the launch of a new BCS website (crediting Jason Sykes and Joey Mitchell), and reported roughly 300 people attended a recent career fair. He also noted Read Across America activities scheduled at schools and reminded the community that Spring Break will be March 17–21, when all schools and central office will be closed.

The recognition items and staff reports were delivered as non-controversial presentations; no public comment was recorded during the meeting.
