At its Jan. 13 meeting the Town of Iowa council authorized a new phone-service agreement and approved a vehicle lease for the water department.
Town Clerk Cynthia Mallett explained the town will transition to a new telephone system that eliminates land lines and the existing phone equipment. The council approved a Business Service Agreement with REV Business for replacement and ongoing service of the telephone system (moved by Daniel Hennigan, seconded by Julie Fontenot); the motion passed unanimously.
The council also approved an open-end (equity) lease with Enterprise Fleet Management for a 2025 Ford Maverick to replace a 2021 F-150 used by the water department. Council Member Julie Fontenot moved to approve the lease, seconded by Vernessa Guillory, and the motion carried unanimously. Council members said the Maverick will cost less to operate and maintain than the older 4x4 truck, and the older vehicle will be sold as surplus.
With those items concluded, the council adjourned at 7:28 p.m.
