Hebron police activate body and vehicle cameras; chief reports accidental shooting and inert grenades

Police Chief Larry Brooks told the Village of Hebron Council on Feb. 26 that vehicle and body cameras are active and in service in the Police Department.
Chief Brooks reported an accidental shooting in which "a man shot himself in the foot." He also said a resident reported possessing what he believed were grenades; Chief Brooks told council the devices were not the explosive type. Chief Brooks thanked Economic & Community Development Director Brittany Misner for preparing press releases to inform the public when incidents occur: "She words them very well," he said.
Sergeant Oliver reported that the West Licking Fire District conducted active‑shooter training for first responders focusing on Rear‑to‑Front casualty management. Councilmember Jerry Carpenter suggested the Village hold active‑shooter training for village staff and potentially combine it with area churches.
The report concluded with the Department's monthly and annual reports having been distributed to Council; no questions were raised during the meeting.
