At the Feb. 5 meeting, Economic & Community Development Director Brittany Misner presented her monthly department report and Zoning Attorney David Moser summarized recent abatement and violation cases.
During the attorney's update, board member Mike McFarland asked whether the Village could do more to enforce property-maintenance standards. Attorney David Moser replied that if additional measures existed he "would already be doing it for the Village," and reminded the board that legal processes and due process limit immediate action. He added that legal processes can be frustrating but must be followed.
Following reports, board members discussed a range of planning and maintenance issues, including the use of solar panels, tiny homes, dangerous sidewalks and sidewalk maintenance responsibilities, and the inability to see around obstructive signs. No formal motions or new regulations on those topics were recorded; the discussion was noted for future consideration. The board scheduled its next regular meeting for March 4, 2024, and later adjourned at 7:38 p.m. on a unanimous vote.
