Planning Commission moves to draft CBD rezoning to allow alcohol sales, schedules April 16 special meeting

At its April 2, 2026 meeting the Stockbridge Planning Commission discussed rezoning the central business district to allow the sale or use of alcohol at businesses that obtain or already hold a valid liquor license.
Jill Ogden, Village President, moved to prepare a draft ordinance and, if needed, hold a public hearing in April; Amanda seconded. The commission voted to schedule a special Planning Commission meeting for April 16, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. to consider the matter and other draft items. The motion to set the special meeting was approved by voice vote (all approved).
Commissioners also discussed a procedural change for special-use permits: amending resolutions tied to a property and filing those amendments with the register of deeds so that special-use approvals would not automatically transfer with a property sale. Commissioners recorded ayes and no opposition was noted.
The commission did not receive public comment on these items during the meeting. Staff noted they will continue to work on the site-plan review process with Katrina and will bring draft ordinance language and related materials to the April 16 special meeting for further consideration.
