Council approves consent agenda, bills, meeting dates, clerk training and fireworks permit

Mayor James Gardner called the Jan. 8 meeting to order. The council considered and approved several routine and administrative items by voice or roll call vote.
Joy Perry moved, supported by Shawn Boslooper, to approve the consent agenda (with the addition of New Business item D — Council Committees); the motion carried, all in favor. On a subsequent motion the council approved Bills #14249 (paid) in the amount of $47,075.72 and Bill’s Warrant #14250 (unpaid) in the amount of $9,887.42 by roll call, with all members recorded in favor.
The council also voted unanimously to approve the 2026 Council and Committees meeting dates, to allow the city clerk to attend the Clerks Institute (Year 2) in Mount Pleasant in March 2026, and to authorize Mayor Gardner to sign the Great Lakes Fireworks 2026 permit. Councilmember Boslooper moved (supported by Amanda Neiding) to approve the Council Committees as presented and to add Councilmember Duy Hoang to the DDA; the motion carried unanimously.
Neil Wakeman moved (supported by Neiding) to adjourn at 7:31 p.m.; the motion carried and the meeting ended.
