At its May 11 meeting, the Hinsdale/Peru Council on Aging finalized logistics for the May 14 Super Senior Party and reviewed a program calendar that runs through November.
Jim Alden said the group is preparing a June newsletter using LPI’s free production service and that he is learning to draft the layout in CANVA with trainer support; the council plans a June distribution. For the May 14 Super Senior Party, 18 meals have been ordered; Marion Tinney ordered a half-sheet cake, will purchase four pots of flowers for table centerpieces and small containers for extra cake. Members should arrive at 11:30 a.m.; Alden will direct guests to the ramp and Sue Malone will check off arrivals and issue name tags. Leon Parsons is scheduled to receive the Golden Cane; Alden said he will ask Lynne to bring it and will take photographs.
The council also approved a schedule of presenters and events: June 11 — Roger Tincknell (Sing-Along with Seniors, chef salad menu); July 16 — open (Alden will contact Loren Smith from Berkshire Health Systems or a Cyber Seniors representative); Aug. 13 — Soular Eclipse (six-piece band) at the pavilion, 12:30–1:30 p.m.; Sept. 17 — Dan Kauffman on maple sugaring; Oct. 15 — a Susan B. Anthony characterization by Mary Serrat; Nov. 12 — Dan Kauffman presenting on the Grand Canyon.
Members agreed to pilot a four-week Thursday afternoon yoga class from Sept. 10 to Oct. 1 (4:30–5:30 p.m.) at the old town hall at $3 per person; Cheryl Cucinello will teach at $75 per class and Marion Tinney will promote the program via The Eagle, Facebook, fliers and the council newsletter. The group briefly discussed the possibility of subsidizing a future coach trip for about 20 people but decided more research is needed before pursuing that option.
