The Zachary Mayor and Council on July 9 deferred action on a proposed council-ordered subpoena related to enforcement of local ordinances — the agenda text named an illegal sign at 4524 Virginia Street and alleged junk/property code issues at 4735 Avenue G, 4633 Avenue C, and 5236 E Mae Street. The council deferred that enforcement item to the July 23, 2024 meeting for further consideration; no vote on issuing subpoenas occurred at this session.
Separately, the council voted to receive the minutes of the June 27, 2024 Condemnation Board meeting and to receive accounts payable for June 2024 (and the natural gas bill when received). The motion to approve the June 25, 2024 council minutes was also passed by unanimous vote earlier in the meeting.
During reports, Mayor David McDavid thanked participants and the school district for work related to the SRO and Crossing Guard agreement; Councilman James Graves thanked Chief Lawrence and the Crime Prevention Committee, and Councilman John LeBlanc raised questions for Planning and Zoning about speed-limit signage. The meeting adjourned at 7:00 p.m.
