The Hoosac Valley Regional School Committee voted unanimously on Feb. 9 to adopt three food service policy updates required for compliance with state and federal regulations.
Administrators presented the three policies: Civil Rights Complaint Procedures, a Meal Modification Policy to formalize medically required dietary accommodations, and a Meal Charging Policy aligned to the statewide free-meal program. Committee members asked whether religious or other dietary needs should be referenced more explicitly; administration recommended adopting the policies now to meet reimbursement timelines and referring any revisions to the Policy Subcommittee.
On a motion by John Duval, seconded by Fred Lora, the committee adopted the policies; the vote was unanimous. The district will post the policies on its website to maintain eligibility for federal and state reimbursements. Nursing and food service staff will manage required documentation for meal modifications.
