Minden council authorizes condemnations and demolitions for multiple properties, grants 180-day reprieve for one owner

Council members said there were no representatives present for the properties considered. For 704 Cherry Street (District A), 716 East Street and 913 Pershing Street the council voted to declare the properties condemned and to order demolition and lot cleaning within 30 days. For 114, 116 and 118 North Talton Street (District B), the council granted a 180‑day period for remediation rather than immediate demolition.
Councilman Miles moved the motions for the condemnations and the 180-day action; the chair recorded unanimous approval for each item. Where owners or representatives were not present, council proceeded under its code-enforcement procedures as reflected in the motions.
What happens next: For properties ordered demolished, city staff will issue formal demolition/cleaning orders and begin enforcement; for the North Talton Street properties, staff will track progress during the 180-day period and return to the council if further action is necessary.
