Washington council approves financial reports, audit progress and reappoints municipal service providers

At its Feb. 17, 2025 regular meeting the Town of Washington council approved procedural and personnel items including minutes, financial reports and reappointments.
Beau Wilson moved to approve the council minutes from December 2024 (the transcript notes there was no January 2025 meeting because of a declared snowstorm); the motion carried unanimously. Tanya Doucet moved to accept and approve the December 2024 and January 2025 financial statements with budget-to-actual comparisons; the council voted in favor.
Erick Fontenot moved to accept and approve the progress of resolving fiscal year 2023–24 audit findings; the motion passed unanimously. Later, Tanya Doucet moved to reappoint several municipal service providers and officers: Kolder, Slaven & Company as CPA/auditor; Steven "Buzz" Durio as attorney; Ben Trant as magistrate; Morgan Goudeau & Associates as engineering firm; Halli Poiotzolaas as municipal clerk; and Jimmy Alfred as public works supervisor. The motion passed with all five councilmembers recorded as voting yes.
The transcript records the approvals and the names of appointees but does not include contract terms, lengths of appointment, compensation or further details about audit findings and how they are being resolved. The council adjourned after completing the agenda.
