Stockbridge council adopts SDDA budget amendment, approves vendor payments and accepts resignations

The Village of Stockbridge Council on May 21 adopted a Stockbridge Downtown Development Authority (SDDA) budget amendment adding $426,550 in anticipated revenue and approved several vendor payments and personnel changes.
Councilmember Howlett moved, supported by Fairbotham, to adopt the SDDA budget amendment; the motion passed with all members present voting in favor. The council also adopted SDDA rules of procedure with an address correction from 305 N. Elizabeth St. to 118 N. Center St., following a motion by Howlett supported by Cattell.
The council approved payment of bills totaling $121,427.20 following a motion by Howlett, supported by Cattell. It also accepted a work proposal from J.K. of Michigan to remove and repair pump #2 for $9,600 and authorized a partial payment of $31,517.50 to Cal’s Excavating for the Veterans Park North Trail project; both votes were unanimous.
On personnel matters, the council accepted the resignation of Sergeant Howe after a motion by Cattell supported by Howlett. During council comments President Jill Ogden said this would be her last meeting and that she had decided to resign from her position on the Village Council; separately, the council voted to accept her resignation as president in a motion by Howlett supported by Fairbotham. The minutes record acceptance of her resignation as president; they do not record a separate formal motion accepting resignation from the council seat.
The council approved a transfer to pay a water tap fee from the general fund to the water (enterprise) fund after a motion by Howlett supported by Fairbotham.
During the member comment period, McManaman asked for an update on a weather camera project; Connolly said he plans to staff an information table for the authority at the upcoming Day in the Village event; Fairbotham publicly thanked Sergeant Howe for his service; Howlett raised concerns about excessive deer and mentioned a deer cull, a point Morehouse supported; Morehouse also requested a tour of Dogs Help and asked for digital copies of authority information. Cattell expressed hope for support for the police authority.
No public comments were made during the public-comment periods. The council listed upcoming meetings, including Utilities Committee on June 10 and the next regular meeting on June 18. President Ogden adjourned the meeting at 7:51 p.m.
