Mayor Gardner reports $54,017 in marijuana-tax revenue; updates on development, housing legislation and committee vacancies

Mayor James Gardner opened the Feb. 26 council meeting with verbal and written remarks updating council and the public on several local items.
Gardner said attorneys are working on an easement agreement related to the Lucarelli Lakeside Road development and that the site's plan application is moving through the approval process. He announced a High Profile grand opening scheduled for Saturday, April 3, and said pothole patching would begin in about two weeks. Gardner also reported the city received $54,017 from the marijuana tax; spring newsletters are scheduled for mailing the week of March 9.
On policy, Gardner noted proposed state legislation that would lower minimum lot sizes and allow mobile homes in all residential districts to increase housing availability; he said most municipalities would prefer to retain local control over those matters. Councilmember Shawn Boslooper urged residents to read about data centers. The council was also told that both the DDA and Planning Commission lacked quorums at recent meetings and that the Blight Committee is seeking a chair to administer available home-improvement funds.
The mayor reminded residents that three council seats are open and that candidate packets are available at City Hall, with an April 21 filing deadline.
