Minden council approves airport grant agreement and authorizes bids for perimeter fencing

MINDEN — The Minden City Council on May 4 approved a resolution authorizing Mayor Nick Cox to execute an agreement with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development for state grant funding to improve Minden Airport facilities, and separately authorized city staff to advertise for bids for phase 1 of perimeter fencing at the airport.
Councilman Miles moved to adopt the LDOTD agreement; the motion was seconded and carried unanimously. The council described the award as “a small, state grant” intended for airport improvements.
On a related item, the airport manager notified the council of a potential federal grant opportunity to fund perimeter fencing (MNE perimeter fencing phase 1). Councilman Pendergrass moved to authorize the city clerk to advertise for bids for that fencing; Councilman Miles seconded the motion and the council approved advertising unanimously.
Both actions were presented to the council as routine authorizations to allow the city to accept and implement grant-funded airport work. Council members asked no substantive policy questions during the brief presentations.
