Minden council approves airport grant, fee schedules and routine resolutions in unanimous votes

At its June 1 meeting the Minden City Council approved a series of routine resolutions and ordinances intended to manage city operations and pursue outside funding.
Council authorized Mayor Cox to accept an Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) grant from the Federal Aviation Administration for airport improvements, including a construction hangar project, and to enter into a grant agreement with the FAA. Council members said the action was a reauthorization of projects the city is already pursuing and passed the measure by unanimous vote.
Other unanimous approvals included selecting the Minden Press Herald as the city’s official journal for required notices; adopting a fee schedule for the Minden Sports Complex that will allow a third-party sports-tourism manager to negotiate events; and a resolution adding authorized city credit-card signatories (listing several staff positions) to reduce shared-card use during travel and training.
The council also authorized staff to apply for and, if appropriate, execute documents for a Louisiana Local Road Safety Program grant and approved an annual maintenance agreement with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development for mowing and litter pickup along state right-of-way segments.
Several items were handled without extended discussion and were characterized by council members as routine city business meant to advance projects and reduce operational friction. All motions passed unanimously by voice vote.
