At its Jan. 11 meeting the West Stockbridge Dog Park Advisory Committee received an update from Friends of the West Stockbridge Dog Park about fundraising and outreach plans.
Heather Hicks and Jana Sax described fundraising options that include personalized fundraising bricks—potentially forming a walkway at the park entrance—t‑shirts and other merchandise. Ms. Sax said she is coordinating with Berkshire Design Group to locate a suitable area for the bricks and that Ned Rosenthal will help prepare a Friends mission statement.
The group confirmed a web address for the Friends organization: friendsofwsdogpark.org. Mr. Bolognino outlined estimated costs: domain registration $54 for the next three years, Squarespace hosting roughly $276 per year, and Google Workspace for a dedicated email address about $72 per year. The committee agreed these tools would provide an online workspace and a site that can be built quickly.
Committee members prioritized recruiting additional volunteers and one new committee member with design, web or other relevant skills. Ms. Sax asked Ms. Orloff to draft a recruitment email emphasizing urgency; Ms. McCormick suggested tying recruitment outreach to the possibility of an early‑summer groundbreaking. The group discussed outreach channels including the committee email list, Facebook and the Local Yokel.
The Friends group will continue developing a logo and t‑shirt concepts and will weigh the cost‑benefit of a brick walkway versus poured cement when planning fundraising targets. Committee members noted that mission and branding work could support donor cultivation and volunteer recruitment.
The meeting adjourned at 11:23 a.m.; minutes were submitted by Paige Orloff.
