At its Jan. 5, 2026 organizational meeting at Powell 9th Grade Academy, the Romeo Community Schools Board of Education unanimously elected officers and approved a slate of organizational resolutions to govern board operations for 2026.
The board elected Rachel Eichhorst as president, Anita Banach as vice president, Katherine Rice as secretary and Aaron Boyer as treasurer. Ms. Bowman moved the nomination and Rice supported; the motion carried 6 Ayes, 0 Nays.
The board then approved six additional organizational resolutions by unanimous vote. Those actions included designating the district depository, approving authorized district signers, setting the day/place/time for regular meetings, designating the Electronic Transfer Officer (ETO), appointing an administrator to post public meeting notices, and approving district legal representation and resources. Each resolution passed on recorded motions and second motions with 6 Ayes and 0 Nays.
Board discussion addressed committee assignments for 2026. Members noted that, with officers now in place, subcommittee membership can be established; a draft subcommittee meeting schedule has been completed and will be finalized. Superintendent Dr. Robinson said safety and policy meetings will need to be scheduled in January and that current committee membership can be used in the interim. Dr. Robinson also recognized Board Appreciation Month and presented the board with a gift.
President Rachel Eichhorst welcomed members and attendees to the new year; Ms. Bowman expressed appreciation for the board's work over the past year. The meeting was called to order at 6:01 p.m. and adjourned at 6:14 p.m. on a motion by Aaron Boyer with support from Anita Banach (6 Ayes, 0 Nays). The board will finalize subcommittee meeting dates and follow up on scheduling for safety and policy meetings.
