Board hears safety update, considers hybrid SRO position and behavior-tracking software

The Romeo Community Schools board on Jan. 26 received a detailed report from its Safety Committee covering student conduct reporting, new behavior-tracking software and consideration of an additional school resource officer in a hybrid role.
Ms. Bowman, reporting from the Safety Committee, said the group discussed Student Conduct Reports and are refining the format and volume of information presented to the board. She said the district is working to align PowerSchool drop-down menus with the student code of conduct to improve consistency in behavior reporting.
On staffing, Bowman described discussion of a possible third SRO in a hybrid position: "This SRO would be present at the 9GA during lunch hour, assist with elementary and be a back-up for Officer Labish," she said. The committee also provided a 31aa funding update and reviewed relocation-route work led by the Safety Director. Board members and community members expressed support for the Safety Director role; the minutes record community agreement for Dr. Robinson to pursue an updated contract for that position.
The update did not produce a formal board action at the meeting but included direction for administrators to continue contract discussions and software configuration. The board later entered closed session for a superintendent evaluation and adjourned at 8:21 p.m.
