City leaders used the Feb. 9 Board of Mayor & Aldermen meeting to recognize emergency response efforts during a recent ice storm and to update the public on upcoming parks activities.
Fire Chief Kyle Hamill recognized personnel for years of service — Austin Bogle (5 years), Ethan Stinson (5 years), Keith Jones (5 years), Austin Wallace (10 years) and Hamill himself (20 years) — and named Keith Jones firefighter of the year. Chief Hamill commended his team for working safely and professionally during a busy ice storm.
Police Chief Buster Locklayer commended patrol for its work during the ice storm. Public Works Director Mark Plush thanked fire, police and public works staff for coordinating response work and noted the city will undertake substantial limb pickup in the storm’s aftermath.
Parks Director Rory Osborne said ball teams were drafted and the ball season is underway. He said the Nashville Road Show has requested a park date of June 6, a carnival is being scheduled, and the new playground is in the final stages of inspection with a planned grand opening in April when weather is better.
Separately, Mayor Lanny Adcock said attorneys are continuing efforts to install a stoplight at the Lights Chapel crossing; he described that as an ongoing effort rather than a completed project.
The board’s acknowledgements and event scheduling were delivered as reports rather than action items; no public hearings or citizen comments were recorded during the meeting.
