Board of Mayor & Aldermen approves personnel-policy change, emergency generator purchase; budget ordinance advanced on first reading

The Board of Mayor & Aldermen met Feb. 9, 2026, and approved several administrative and fiscal actions, each by unanimous roll call.
Alderman Jeff DeLong moved to adopt Resolution 26-01, amending the Employee Personnel Policy to clarify language in Section 3.1 and removing the word “consecutive” from Section 5.3. Alderman Alisha Allgood seconded the motion, which passed on a 6-0 roll vote.
On fiscal matters, Alderman Donald Toohey moved to approve Ordinance 26-01 on first reading, an amendment to the Fiscal Year 2026 Budget Ordinance. Alderman Billy Ray Dorris seconded; the motion passed 6-0 on first reading. The ordinance remains at first reading for any required subsequent steps under local procedure.
The board approved an emergency purchase for a generator and associated electrical installation to serve the Fire and Public Works departments. Alderman Billy Ray Dorris moved the $27,000 emergency purchase; Alderman Donald Toohey seconded and the motion passed 6-0.
The board also approved combined water and sewer adjustments for December and January totaling $4,027.24. Alderman Bill Deaver moved the adjustments, Alderman Jeff DeLong seconded, and the measure passed unanimously.
All formal motions reported at the meeting passed on 6-0 votes. The meeting adjourned at 6:13 p.m.
