The Roseville Community Schools Board of Education met Dec. 15, 2025, at the district administration building and moved unanimously on a set of routine agenda items while hearing a parent concern about student behavior and enjoying a holiday performance by fifth-grade students.
President Theresa Genest opened the meeting at 7:00 p.m. and the group recited the Pledge of Allegiance. The board approved the minutes of the Dec. 1, 2025 regular meeting after a motion by Vice President Kevin Switanowski and support from Secretary Joseph D. DeFelice; the motion carried unanimously (7-0).
Superintendent Mark Blaszkowski introduced a holiday performance by fifth-grade students from Fountain and Kment elementary schools directed by Mr. A.J. Pratt. Board members and administrators offered brief remarks: Trustee Gina Aiuto said, “Great work, thank you, parents,” and other trustees described the performance as “heartwarming” and thanked parents and staff. Blaszkowski told the board the district would present $700,000 in music funds and related renovation items for consideration.
On personnel, the board reviewed and accepted a slate of hires, re-hires, reclassifications, resignations, retirements and one termination. New hires listed in the minutes include Rachel Byers, instructional aide at Kaiser Elementary (effective 12/15/25); Brittany Cogwell, lunchroom supervisor at Dort Elementary (12/15/25); Saoirse Curvers, latchkey aide at Dort Elementary (12/11/25); and Christopher Graham, special education aide at Kment Elementary (12/04/25). The minutes also record re-hires and reclassifications, resignations (including Terri Bauss, teacher – Fountain Elementary, effective 12/12/25), retirements effective Jan. 1, 2026 (including Kathleen Farchone and Kathy Lang) and the termination of A’Shanae Ross (special education aide at Kaiser Elementary). Secretary Joseph D. DeFelice moved to accept the personnel recommendations; Treasurer Matthew McCartney supported the motion and it carried unanimously (7-0).
Trustee Gina Aiuto moved, and Trustee Michelle Williams-Ward supported, a resolution granting the district preliminary qualification to issue bonds. A roll-call vote recorded all seven members (Genest, Switanowski, DeFelice, McCartney, Aiuto, Brun, Williams-Ward) in favor and the resolution carried unanimously.
The board also approved the General Fund warrant list for the month ending Nov. 30, 2025, following a recommendation from the Business Office. Treasurer Matthew McCartney moved to approve the warrant list and Trustee Denise Brun supported; a roll-call vote recorded all seven members voting aye and the motion carried unanimously.
The published agenda listed a building-use request from the outside organization Square One Education Network; the minutes show the agenda item but do not include recorded discussion details or a specific motion tied to that request.
During the public-comment portion, a parent from Kment Elementary raised concerns about student behavior; the minutes record the comment but do not name the speaker or show follow-up action in the record.
There were no further comments from board members or central administration. The board announced upcoming meeting dates and adjourned at 7:55 p.m. after a motion by Secretary DeFelice and support from Trustee Brun; the adjournment motion carried unanimously (7-0).
