The Roseville Community Schools Board of Education on Dec. 1, 2025 approved a slate of routine personnel and capital-item measures and accepted a local property offer, while hearing a public complaint about student bullying.
At the start of the meeting President Theresa Genest called the board to order and the board unanimously approved the Nov. 17, 2025 meeting minutes on a motion by Vice President Kevin Switanowski supported by Michelle Williams-Ward.
The board accepted personnel recommendations that included the hiring of Phyllis Mobley as a bus driver and recorded several staff resignations and assignments; Joseph D. DeFelice moved to approve the personnel slate, Gina Aiuto supported the motion and the board voted 7-0 to accept the recommendations.
The board approved fundraiser bylaws covering clubs and music and band classes at Fountain and Kment elementaries and district music programs (motion by Matthew McCartney, supported by Kevin Switanowski). It also approved travel for the Roseville High boys’ basketball team to play at Morton High School in Hammond, Indiana on Jan. 2, 2026; coaches Rashard Porter and Durrell Carter are listed as faculty sponsors. The travel was described as day travel only, with departure at 9 a.m. and a return early on Jan. 3; the board voted 7-0 to approve the trip (motion by Denise Brun, supported by Michelle Williams-Ward).
On facilities and district property, the board accepted a cash offer of $190,000 for the building trades house at 16250 Guest Court with closing to take place by Dec. 10, 2025. Joseph D. DeFelice moved for acceptance, Denise Brun supported the motion, and the board approved the sale by roll-call vote (ayes recorded; motion carried 7-0).
The board approved purchasing a 78-passenger transit bus from Holland Bus Sales for $185,018.20, including a camera system and two-way radios (motion by Kevin Switanowski, supported by Joseph D. DeFelice). The board also authorized a contract with Aquatic Source to replace or repair the pool lift at Roseville High School for $16,180.40 to be paid from general funds (motion by Joseph D. DeFelice, supported by Matthew McCartney). Both measures passed unanimously.
During the meeting the board recognized Roseville High junior Autumn Vollmer as the district holiday card designer; faculty involvement was noted, including art teacher Fiona Rawson and Autumn’s mother Sharon Kolarich.
In the public comment portion Rose Kuechenmeister suggested a monthly food collection by building; Alura Barnes raised a complaint that she said involved bullying, which Superintendent Mark Blaszkowski addressed during the session; a speaker identified as Holmes-Hill raised a question related to “child find.” The minutes record that Blaszkowski addressed the bullying complaint but do not record a formal follow-up action or outcome.
There being no further business, Joseph D. DeFelice moved to adjourn, Michelle Williams-Ward seconded, and the board adjourned at 7:40 p.m. The board listed its next regular meeting for Dec. 15, 2025 (holiday performance) at 7 p.m. at the Administration Building.
