The Village Board approved two resolutions to ensure continued coverage of Lakeside Municipal Court.
Administrator Nick Leonard introduced Resolution-07-2025, appointing Troy Damsteegt as a temporary municipal judge. Leonard said the temporary appointment will end Nov. 18, 2025, when the winner of the Nov. 4 special election will assume the position. The board approved the resolution on a 4-0 vote after a motion by Trustee Chuck Hornung and a second by Trustee John Duffy.
Leonard also presented Resolution-08-2025, which orders a special election for municipal judge to be held on Nov. 4, 2025 to fill the remaining term through April 2027. Trustee John Duffy moved approval; Trustee Gary Schaub seconded; the motion passed 4-0.
The resolutions put a temporary judge in place immediately and schedule a village-wide special election in November; the meeting record does not include candidate names beyond the temporary appointee or details on election administration beyond the date.
