North Fond du Lac awards $1.45 million contract for Well Station #5; rate study to follow

The Village of North Fond du Lac Board of Trustees voted to award a $1,446,725 contract to Rhode Brothers, Inc. for construction of Well Station #5.
Director of Public Works Mitch Vis told the board three bids were received, ranging from $1,446,725.00 to $1,622,200.50, and that the low bid was within $1,500 of the engineer’s estimate. Vis recommended awarding the project to Rhode Brothers, Inc., and the board approved the award on a 4-0 vote after a motion by Trustee Gary Schaub and a second from Trustee John Duffy.
Administrator Nick Leonard told trustees the size of the project will likely require an increase in water rates. Leonard said staff will work with consulting firm Baker Tilly to complete a rate study through the Wisconsin Public Service Commission; that process is scheduled to start after Aug. 1, 2025 and will evaluate this and future projects and adjust rates accordingly.
The board’s approval allows staff to proceed with contracting and project planning. No construction schedule or completion date was specified in the meeting record.
