Heather Hicks, representing the Friends of West Stockbridge, updated the committee on fundraising plans at the April 26 meeting. She displayed bandanas to be used as an incentive for donations at the farmers market and described commemorative bricks as a sales option priced at $100 for a single 8x4 and $200 for a double brick; Melanie Thibeault said donors will be able to order bricks via a flyer and QR code.
The Friends are exploring partnerships with local restaurants and businesses: Amici Restaurant, the Public Market and Common and Garden Pub signaled interest in offering menu items or a check‑rounding option to benefit the park. Sharon Vidal proposed a raffle for a dog portrait donated by local artist Vivian Outlaw (valued at $2,000) now that the Friends have a solicitor's permit; the group agreed donation jars at local businesses and events and bake sales are viable options.
Committee members discussed merchandise logistics and recommended the Friends consider using a local printer for T‑shirts and other items. The Friends will set and share fundraising goals and were asked to clarify whether they can accept corporate donations; the committee believes they can. Members also discussed options for selling commemorative benches and sponsorship naming.
