The Box Butte County Board of Commissioners opened a budget amendment hearing at 9:00 a.m. on June 17 to solicit taxpayer comment on proposed changes to the FY2025–2026 budget. Road Office Manager Kama Hansen provided a road and equipment report during the hearing.
After hearing public input and with no public opposition entered on the record, Commissioners moved to close the hearing and adopted the budget amendment as presented, adding state-directed payments to the county Hospital Budget. The motion to adopt the amendment passed unanimously.
The board discussed and acted on related administrative items during the same meeting, including approval of the Hemingford Water Agreement (Agreement 2026-18) and the Planning Commission’s recommendation to award the zoning regulations update RFP to Ayers not to exceed $21,500. The board denied the Cash Vest contract at this time and approved a range of claims and transfers detailed in the meeting materials.
The board’s adoption of the budget amendment was recorded in the minutes; the county clerk and treasurer are responsible for implementing the budget changes and reflecting state-directed hospital payments in the Hospital Budget.
