At a Jan. 8 special meeting in Bessemer, commissioners voted to elect Commissioner Longhini as chair and Commissioner Jackovich as vice chair.
Commissioner Jackovich initiated the first motion to nominate Longhini as chair and Commissioner Fabbri as vice chair, but Fabbri told the commission he plans to move out of the city and said he did not believe he should serve as vice chair; that nomination failed. Jackovich then moved to nominate Longhini as chair and Jackovich as vice chair; Commissioner Maki supported the motion and it carried.
The election resolves the commission's leadership for the coming term and assigns the members who will guide meeting agendas and priorities for the year. The meeting concluded with procedural business and an adjournment at 6:36 p.m.
