Bellevue DDA approves holiday event payments, updates parade logistics

The board voted to award David Wilson a $100 gift card for serving as Santa after C. Carpenter moved the payment and K. Sparks seconded the motion. The board also approved a $150 payment to the parade DJ following a motion by M. Smith and a second from M. Pennington.
Why it matters: these small, one-time payments recognize volunteer and contracted support for community events and were processed as part of the post-event debrief. Board members said turnout was higher this year — roughly 20 participants — and the library ran 33 crafts for children.
Board members discussed parade logistics for next year, including a 5 p.m. lineup at the high school to shorten travel for participants, keeping the North End area closed until after the tree lighting, and offering concession-style items (a free cotton-candy donation and hot chocolate at the parade route). M. Bartzen produced a promotional video for this year’s parade, and C. Carpenter posted thanks and photos on Facebook.
The Light up the Vue contest was also addressed: the board reported four business entries and three residential entries this year and set a goal of 20 residential entries for next year. C. Carpenter moved to purchase a $50 Visa gift card for the business winner (K. Sparks seconded); the motion carried. C. Carpenter also offered to donate a new trophy.
The board did not indicate any further follow-up steps for these items beyond implementing the parade-lineup changes and continuing outreach for the holiday contest.
