Beecher Board approves bills, hires officer and amends municipal code

The Village of Beecher Board of Trustees met Sept. 22, 2025 and approved several routine and personnel actions.

Finance: Trustee Kraus moved and Trustee Gardner seconded approval of payment of bills totaling $75,968.30 and payroll since the last meeting; the motion carried 5–0.

Personnel: Trustee Diachenko moved to approve the minutes of the Sept. 8 meeting (motion seconded by Trustee Stacey), which passed 5–0. Trustee Tieri moved to approve the full‑time hiring of Police Officer David Garza; Trustee Stacey seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Garza's start date as a full‑time officer was set for Oct. 6, 2025.

Municipal code: Trustee Tieri moved, and Trustee Gardner seconded, to amend Sections 9‑13‑6 and 9‑14‑2 of the Village of Beecher Municipal Code to add the position of adjudication clerk; the motion carried unanimously (5–0).

Donations and equipment: Will County State's Attorney Jim Glasgow informed the Board the Beecher Police Department will receive 14 tint meters as part of a public and police safety program; department staff will complete a certification course for proper use. Chief Terry Lemming accepted the tint meters on behalf of the department; Officer Hanson was present as a Teamsters representative.

Procedure and next meeting: Trustee Kraus moved to reschedule the next Board meeting to Oct. 14, 2025 because of a holiday; Trustee Gardner seconded and the motion carried 5–0. The Board adjourned into executive session at 6:33 p.m. to discuss employment contracts and returned to open session at 7:11 p.m. President Meyer adjourned the meeting at 7:17 p.m.
