Staff reports: Warren Hotel opening, Jimmy John's and Tabor Hill projects advance; Trails application pending

At the June 18 meeting Building/Zoning Official Mattner updated the Bridgman City Planning Commission on several local development projects and on the status of the Trails of Bridgman.
Mattner informed the commission that The Warren Hotel is planning a grand opening in late June (approximate). He said Jimmy John’s is moving forward with hopes of opening by fall. Mattner also noted the Tabor Hill Tasting Room on Red Arrow is under contract and that an architectural studio is proposed for that location.
Commissioner Parsons asked about the Trails of Bridgman; Mattner said the EGLE Part 41 application for the trails is waiting for approval and that the developer proposes to construct the project in four phases. The commission did not take formal action on the Trails project at this meeting; the item remains dependent on permitting decisions outside the commission’s immediate authority.
Commissioner Woerdehoff raised concerns about signage at Oronoko Ironworks and a couch that has been at the curb on Lake Street for several weeks. Chair Truesdell noted a city limit sign at the south limit had been struck and needs repair. No motions or votes were recorded on these maintenance complaints; they were entered as commissioner comments.
