Bessemer parks commission approves wooden replacement for Bluff Valley Park bridge

Commissioners approved using available monies from the current fiscal year to pay for supplies, with the intent to perform reconstruction in the next fiscal year.
Commission leadership said the Department of Public Works will handle removal of the existing span in the spring. The motion did not include a recorded roll-call tally in the meeting transcript; the minutes state only that the motion carried.
The commission’s decision restores a timeline for repairing the park crossing and leaves project scheduling and procurement to staff as the work moves forward. The commission will revisit the project as needed in future meetings.
