Beecher trustees approve bills, banking services, surplus sale and purchases; hire interim accounting firm

At its Oct. 27 meeting the Village of Beecher Board approved routine financial and operational items, authorized an interim accounting services agreement and approved several equipment purchases and a property surplus resolution.
Trustee Kraus moved to approve payment of bills totaling $156,768.14; the board voted 6‑0 to pay the list. The board also voted 6‑0 to accept a proposal for municipal banking services with First Community Bank and Trust. Administrator Charity Mitchell and Treasurer Donna Lippelt reported that Pasbrig & Associates, LLC would provide accounting services at an initial rate of $150 per hour, rising to $175 per hour after Jan. 1; the board authorized the Village President to sign the agreement.
Trustee Diachenko moved adoption of Resolution #2025‑05 to declare 724 Penfield Street surplus and authorize its sale; the motion passed unanimously. On public safety items, Trustee Tieri moved to approve the purchase of in‑car cameras from Axon Enterprise, Inc. for $60,255.51; that motion passed 6‑0. Chief Terry Lemming said the department had been awarded a grant to buy six tasers and the board gave consensus to sign the grant agreement.
Trustee Gardner moved to approve Metro Power to perform maintenance and load‑bank testing on six village generators for $6,250; the vote was 6‑0. Staff announced seasonal services: leaf collection will begin this week, the final brush collection is Nov. 4, and pickleball courts will be closed for the winter beginning Nov. 3. The board noted community events and donations: the Lions Club will host "Halloween in the Park" Oct. 31, and the Village President will donate $250 in gift cards to Beecher Blessings after winning a prize at a Lennar open house.
The meeting recessed into executive session at 6:42 p.m. to discuss an employee and returned at 6:53 p.m. The board announced job postings: the Chief of Police position will be posted internally and postings for a part‑time police clerk and full‑time administrative assistant will begin Oct. 28. The meeting adjourned at 6:58 p.m.
