The Village Board voted May 5 not to award the Polk Street storm-improvement contract after receiving only one bid that exceeded the engineer's estimate.
Director of Public Works Mitch Vis told the board the lone bid was higher than expected and tied the result to a short bidding timeline; he recommended not awarding the contract. Trustees voted to reject the single bid and rebid the project in the winter for construction in summer 2026. The motion to not award was offered by President Mike Streetar and seconded by Trustee Gary Schaub and passed unanimously.
