The Bellevue Downtown Development Authority spent a portion of its Nov. 13 meeting on logistics for the upcoming Santa Parade and the town’s Christmas tree lighting, including motions on equipment rental and small purchases.
Board members confirmed Santa’s appearance and that the North End will be used for decorating, Santa photos and crafts. J. Whitcomb told the board that TWC will install the tree lights; the minutes show Chairperson C. Carpenter moved to approve paying J. Whitcomb $1,000 to rent a lift for TWC to put up the lights before Dec. 6 and to remove them after the new year. K. Sparks seconded the motion; the minutes do not record a vote tally or final outcome for that motion.
Members also discussed on-site logistics: M. Smith will contact Fun Services to ask whether it will donate a face-painting kit and glitter tattoos as in prior years, and Kickin Kurbz’s food truck was confirmed for the parade. Board members raised a security concern about the park power box lock and asked staff to investigate installing a combination lock that board members can unlock during events.
Because hot cocoa equipment failed to heat quickly at last year’s parade, the DDA debated buying a dedicated industrial coffee pot or beverage dispensers. The minutes record a motion by C. Carpenter, seconded by M. Sparks, to purchase equipment for up to $200; the record does not show the vote result.
If the lift rental and equipment purchase proceed, the board will still need to finalize vendor coordination (TWC, Kickin Kurbz, any face-painting provider) and the lock arrangement for the park’s power box. The minutes do not identify any required external approvals for the lift rental or small equipment purchase, and next steps are to finalize vendors and logistics before the parade date.
